About

I’m a technologist advocating for an open internet, currently working at the European Commission to enforce the Digital Markets Act.

My career began in electrical and mechanical engineering, but my interest in abstract systems led me to computer science. After diving into blockchain technology, I transitioned to privacy tech, focusing my PhD on applied differential privacy. Some of my research has been covered by Forbes (1, 2), Google’s Awakening Magazine (1), and the Register (1, 2, 3).

At the Commission, I contribute to initiatives aimed at creating a fairer digital landscape, such as enabling alternative app stores on iOS, interoperability in instant messaging (for WhatsApp and Messenger), anonymization of Google Search data for smaller search engines, and vetting privacy practices across major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Our work has been covered in several media outlets (e.g. see a comprehensive coverage here).

In my free time, I’m a writer, currently seeking representation for my sci-fi epic GÖD’S GATE. I also enjoy tinkering with technology—this website, for instance, is hosted on my home (rPi) server. When I’m not doing that, I’m usually diving into computer science and physics books, with varying degrees of success! :D

Let’s connect if you’re interested in discussing my novel, privacy tech, blockchain, AI, digital platforms, consciousness, or sci-fi!
